Ms. Nance

Sherry Nance is a native of Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  Ms. Nance earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration Accounting/Management from Claflin University in 1987.  Later earning a Masters Degree in Education with a concentration in Integrating the Arts in the Curriculum in 2006. Additionally, while pursuing a Masters Degree, Ms. Nance completed the Leadership Add-on Program through the University of West Georgia in 2006.  Then on to earning a Specialist Degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Nova Southeastern University in 2007.  Concluding with her ABD at Northcentral University in 2010.

Ms. Nance’s teaching career began with the Burke County School System at SGA Elementary School in Sardis, Ga teaching 4th and 5th grades from 1996 – 2002. Thereafter, relocating to the Clayton County Public School System in 2002.  Ms. Nance has served at multiple middle schools in CCPS (NCMS-MMMS-SMS-AMS-RMS-MMS) over the last 19 years in multiple capacities (General Education/Special Education/Gifted Teacher – Leadership/Better Seeking Teams – Lead Mentor – RTI/SST Lead – SACS Chairperson – Athletic Coach – Math Coach – GELT – Instructional Site Facilitator) before becoming an Assistant Principal in 2017.  Ms. Nance joined Morrow Middle School in 2019 and is delighted to be a part of a diverse faculty & staff who believes in serving the ‘whole child’ while increasing student achievement.

Prior to entering Education in 1996, Ms. Nance worked extensively with the Department of Family & Children Services in Georgia and Florida where she holds a Social Services Certification for working with families for various reasons:  TANF-Food Stamps-Medicaid Eligibility Certifications, Child Protective Services Investigations, Foster Care Placements, Adoptions and Home Investigations.

Ms. Nance is an advocate for ‘Autism Speaks’ and believes that ALL students can learn at their optimal level of success when provided opportunities to do so.  Ms. Nance lives by the Golden Rule:  Treat others as you wish to be treated.  In her spare time she loves spending time with her three children, Ashley, Macoyia and Marque; serving her church family; her sorority – Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc; and her Fraternal Organization – Order of the Eastern Stars.
